For the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs, we developed an innovative figurative mark including animations for use in digital and official contexts. The brief: to position a ministry that was newly founded in fall 2018 in a visually contemporary, serious and technological way.
The figurative mark consists of 16 pixels or squares, which together form a large square. The design idea is derived from the original form of programming – “0” and “1” – and the pixel as the most visible basic digital element. The five colors used come from the design guidelines of the state government. For digital media, the brand was further developed as an algorithmically variable variant and thus offers more than 1.5 million display types – for print, a version for business stationery and other applications was defined.
For the first use at the digital summit of the Minister of State, we designed and realized an animation of the word-image brand – for use in social media, at press conferences and official events. We were responsible for the entire process, from conception to rendering, including the creation of a sound logo. In addition, we created an almost four-minute 3D animation for conferences, which was presented for the first time at the Digital Summit 2020. It visualizes technological development and disruption: elements emerge from the figurative mark, accelerate and decelerate, influence each other – the direction of movement from left to right as a symbol of the path to the future. We were responsible for the rendering and production of over 4,000 frames.
